Oslo, March 2017 – After months of anticipation Ling Ling Oslo, Hakkasan’s sister restaurant, is set to open its doors on Monday 3 April 2017. Ling Ling Oslo will launch in partnership with Fursetgruppen Restaurant Group in the newly renovated Aker Brygge Marina on the Oslo Fjord waterfront and will feature indoor and outdoor dining, a stunning bar, rooftop terrace and hidden lounge. It will be the first restaurant from Hakkasan Group in Scandinavia.
Ling Ling draws inspiration from the izakaya concept made popular in the East where food accompanies the drinks and not the other way around. With smaller plates of Cantonese cuisine, designed to share, Ling Ling encourages guests to discover and explore Hakkasan cuisine differently. Ling Ling takes the Hakkasan DNA and bends it to create a restaurant and bar experience that reflects the local environment but has the signature elements of Hakkasan that guests crave.
Nick McCabe, President and COO of Hakkasan Group explained: “Ling Ling was developed to go places Hakkasan couldn’t go. Ling Ling prides itself on having the same quality F&B and service standards as Hakkasan but plays more with local cultures and tastes in terms of cuisine, mixology, design and music”.
Gjøran Sæther, CEO of Fursetgruppen restaurant group continued: “We are very happy to partner with Hakkasan Group and Norwegian Property to open Hakkasan’s newest concept, Ling Ling. It has been a pleasure working with likeminded companies that share the same values and work ethic. The team has undergone extensive training in both London and Oslo, with key staff also joining us from Hakkasan Group to be part of the Ling Ling team. It’s very exciting to share ideas and inspiration and bring the Norwegian influence to this unique experience”.
Tore Heldrup Rasmussen, EVP Commercial of Norwegian Property ASA said: “Aker Brygge and Tingvalla with its distinct building is the number one pearl location in Oslo City, right on the Oslo Fjord waterfront - Ling Ling is a unique restaurant and entertainment concept which will really embrace this location. We at Norwegian Property are very pleased and enthusiastic for the opening of this world leading destination at Aker Brygge”.
The Ling Ling Oslo menu will take inspiration from Hakkasan’s signature dishes whilst using Norwegian influence, local producers and ingredients. Dishes include the Supreme dim sum platter, featuring Lychee and lobster dumpling, Abalone shumai with caviar, Norwegian king crab dumpling and Plaice dumpling with black truffle alongside Grilled silver cod in ginger soya.
Famous for its cocktails, Ling Ling will offer an evolving selection of drinks from the award-winning team in London. In addition to the signature selection there will be eight cocktails exclusive to Oslo including the Mara Dulsea using Norwegian spirit Aquavit, white rum, kumquats, apple, lime, Dulse seaweed and ginger; this drink is the perfect mix of Norwegian infusions and Chinese flavours.
Music is the beating heart of any Ling Ling experience and Oslo will have local DJs playing each week from Thursday to Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons; bringing the cutting edge sound of Ling Ling to the City.
Ling Ling Oslo has been designed by Norwegian agency Radius whose approach to the restaurant design was ‘show don’t tell’. The space has been designed to encourage exploration into an intriguing world of sights, sounds and tastes, offering 4 unique spaces that enhance the senses. The unique location in Oslo offers guests a new destination to visit in the city with a roof terrace bar overlooking the Aker Brygge marina, a hidden bar and a ground floor terrace with beautiful views beside the marina.
